As a breeder of angora rabbits for 25 years I am not sure why the negative reviewer even read this book. It is written for the beginner angora owner and I frequently recommend it for the person who wants a rabbit for its fiber use and is not necessarily going to move on to breeder/exhibitor status. Rabbits are not dogs or cats and while they all require food and water there are differences -and these are not covered in all the little google show and tells unless you are already in the loop of the fiber rabbit. I can't tell you how often we receive requests on what to do for various problems or practices. I bought this book to see if it was something I could recommend and it is-as President of the National Angora Rabbit Breeders Club,Inc I think I know a little about it.We offer lots more info in our guidebook but its for the next step in most cases. And you know, many of the rabbit owners are young people so there is nothing wrong with being simple and to the point.Product details

The Nervous New Owners Guide to Angora Rabbits Suzie Sugrue 9780578071770 Books Reviews
Arrived faster than anticipated. Product as described. Great condition.
The book itself looks very informative and I'm looking forward to reading it.
Excellent book for the beginning angora bunny person! This book targets the the fiber angora pet owner. She gives practical information, all geared to the wool rabbit enthusiast, in a light-hearted manner. The author covers everything from housing, nutrition, handling/grooming, and bunny behavior. Since it is a fiber book, the last chapters give an overview of the process to take bunny wool from critter to soft skein of yarn. Pictures are black and white, but they get the point across. If you've kept angora rabbits for a couple of years, you probably know most of this information (but I don't think she was writing for us anyway). However, it is a great start point for the new wool rabbit owner. I am glad to see all this information in one place. It would have saved me so much time when I got my first bun. Highly recommended for wool bunny newbies!
As a spinner, I had a hankering for my own fiber source. After reading this book, I realized that I did not have what was needed to care and nurture these adorable creatures. So I mailed The Guide off to a friend of mine who was gifted an angora rabbit by her oldest daughter -- just before leaving for college. This friend gives me the bunny fur to spin; and she now knows the technique for that process, and I have great fiber to spin. So the book was very useful for me!
... get this book. It explains everything you need to know about the care and health of these wonderful animals. Your first few weeks will be nerve wracking, but the author explains what to watch for and how to do all of the extra things these wool rabbits need, inclusing diet, grooming and shearing. A must have.
This is an excellent book for new Angora rabbit owners. But it is also an excellent book for anyone looking for good, complete and accessible information for raising any type of rabbit. As an Angora rabbit breeder myself, I can attest to the wonderful education a Nervous New Owner of an Angora or any other new rabbit breed would have in his or her hands!
The title had me hooked because even though I've raised rabbits before, I've never owned a French Angora rabbit and this book provides many angora rabbit specific tips that are very useful. An easy, quick read, the book is a bit drab because all the photos are black and white. However, it's well organized and full of good information. Everything in it could be found by digging around on the internet, but it's handy to have it all wrapped up in a nice little book in one location. It even talks about fiber usage with tips on harvesting, spinning and knitting with angora.
Some of the books I bought as a new Angora owner were way over my head at the time. This book would have made a good first step for basic care, had I read it before the others. Especially the grooming and fiber prep part . It is informative book written in a straightforward simplistic style. When you’ve mastered the basic care of an angora, you may want to move on to more in-depth reading about the techniques of working with fiber .
